I told her we understood, and we were patient.you can't rush perfection. The hostess who took our name while we waited was very pleasant and courteous! Once me and my nephew was seated we were greeted by another lovely young lady who took our order and told us our food might be delayed due to the overwhelming amount of customers. This place is famous, it's owned by Gladys Knight, and known for their signature dish, Chicken Wings and Waffle!" A place like this is expected to be busy at all times. This establishment offered me one of the best meals and service experiences that have been missing from most restaurants if you ask me! For starters, yes I had to wait to be seated, but that's not a problem nor should it be for anyone with some common sense. Management needs to get a little better at taking care of customers in a timely manner. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that they took forever to give us our check. Its not as big as I thought it would be but its quaint. The bar area is nice and there are different places to sit and eat. There were dresses that gladys knight wore throughout her career that were hanging on the walls and nice paintings and her awards. The drinks are so huge! You don't even need a refill. The tenders were pretty good and the fries were great! The food tasted like food I could get in a true southern kitchen. It was tenders and fries but it was a lot of food. I shared a kids meal with my 10 month old son. They both agreed that the chicken was good but the waffle wasn't the best waffle they've ever had it was good though. My husband and cousin had the midnight train aka the chicken and waffles. The bad reviews about this place mostly concern the quality of service and I do agree that it could be a bit better but its a nice atmosphere.

Maybe next time, he can just get something different! However, the server offered him another choice after he mentioned the saltiness but we were almost finished so he declined.

My husband's meal was the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. But I knew my kids would want more than just the chicken leg that came with the kids' meal. I was in Gladys Knight's place afterall! It was spectacular - it came with 4 fried HUGE wings and a gigantic waffle!!! There is a lunch portion with 2 wings instead of 4. I didn't think you could have too much cheese but apparently you can.

The Mac n' cheese was okay, he said, as it was like eating a bunch of half-melted shredded cheese and some macaroni. They also had a bit of Cajun spice that probably had salt in it and maybe someone added additional salt that didn't need to be there. It was perfectly lightly breaded - "just enough." But the potatoes were overly salted (and he loves salt) - I tasted it and have to agree. It comes with a leg and thigh and two sides. My husband ordered Uncle Ron's Nephew (lunch menu) with Mac n' cheese and potatoes as sides. They every bit and even split one of my wings. Our server was very friendly.īoth of my kids (9 & 10) ordered the Waffle Snack, which included a fried chicken wing. The ambience is definitely comfortable and family-friendly. Figured it'd be less crowded as it was lunchtime and not the main downtown location. I was so excited about getting chicken n' waffles! I took my family for lunch today.
